How COVID-19 has affected Hair Stylists

The coronavirus began to affect our country early this year. In early days of the pandemic, only certain businesses were allowed to remain open because they were considered to be "essential." The remaining businesses that did not fall into that category were closed indefinitely. Among these businesses were salons, barber shops, spas, and other businesses within the beauty industry. I am a licensed cosmetologist, and while I do not currently work in a salon, I know many stylists that the pandemic has affected. I propose to interview cosmetologists that work in salons and ask about their experiences as they are regaining the ability to perform services with certain restrictions. I will also use public data to show how the pandemic and shutdowns of these businesses have affected them.
This topic is newsworthy because it is timely. It shows how the current situation of the nation and world have been affected by the restrictions placed on this industry. It may also give insight as to how situations may be handled in the future. Many people within this industry may find the information valuable and interesting. The effects of the pandemic are of human interest to most people currently.
